this might be a hot take but i think we should still be required to wear masks on airplanes

image

we need to start hounding people into wearing masks again. why aren’t you wearing a mask on public transit? why aren’t you wearing a mask in the crowded grocery store? why aren’t you wearing a mask in the literal hospital? if you’re half as progressive as you claim to be you’d require masks at your busy events. you’re not a progressive if you’re leaving out the immunocompromised. plus covid can still fuck you up even if you’re perfectly healthy and had your vaccines. wouldn’t you rather be unnecessarily cautious than risk getting yourself or someone else sick? put your mask back on in the crowded mall. coward

By multiple early indications, the United States has entered yet another surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, with wastewater levels, emergency room visits for COVID-19 and test positivity rates all on the rise across much of the country.

Between June 24 and July 12, the Biobot wastewater tracker showed a 46 percent increase nationally, concentrated in the South and on the coasts. According to one infectious disease modeler, these wastewater levels translate to roughly 280,000 Americans presently being infected with COVID-19 each day and rising.

I saw an article the other day where they claimed that “excess death rates prove the pandemic is over.” And like, the rate of excess death is still ~6.7% higher than in 2020, you know, the year in which American life expectancy fell 3 years. And the year is only half over. They’re just straight lying to us that ‘everything’s fine!’ while we hurtle over the edge of a cliff into an oven filled with spikes and arsenic.

Barnes and Noble booksellers are working on forming a union as well!

https://www.reddit.com/r/union/comments/rwczci/barnes_noble_workers_want_union/

Their flagship store and New York has unionized along with 3-4 other stores! This is happening! People are tired of being seen as dollar signs and being made to work just to get to work more, to survive instead of thrive. Keep it UP.
